KLOU - Brutally Effective
DJB Machinery
In 1999 Cutters was started in the UK by members of one of the biggest distributers of forestry and landscape equipment in South Africa.
It was originally just providing garden and arborist equipment to the south of the UK but by 2010 they had expanded into producing hydraulic attachments. In 2014 they decided to just concentrate of this part of the business under the name Klou, an Afrikaans word meaning ‘claw’.
Klou have expanded rapidly with their product range and supply equipment to America, Australasia, Africa and across Europe.
Their broad experience and knowledge of hydraulic attachments and carrier machines means they deliver the best solutions for customers. These top quality and robust hydraulic attachments are manufactured in Dorset, UK.
Orders started coming in from local farmers, and by 1982, with more of a range, they exhibited at their first show in Verona. The dealers were very impressed, and the orders started to come in fast.
They soon started to expand abroad, and by 1996, Balfor had extended its range and built its first firewood processor. In 1999 they commissioned the world’s largest log splitter, a monster 100-ton machine. They have the skills and are making some of the largest spitters available today. In 2008 their name was shortened to ‘Balfor’ to make their brand more international. Forty years later, Balfor still prioritizes customer satisfaction. It deals directly with customers to understand their needs and accepts requests for customisations and new models for both the industrial and domestic markets.
