SX Grapples
MDE SX grapples are hydraulic excavator attachments designed for grabbing and handling logs, timber, steel and general debris. What sets the SX range apart is the option to bolt on a saw unit, turning a standard grapple into a grapple saw capable of felling trees and cross-cutting timber without swapping attachments. Multiple sizes are available to suit excavators from compact machines through to larger plant.

From Grapple to Grapple Saw in One Attachment
The MDE SX grapple is a versatile excavator attachment on its own, but the ability to bolt on a dedicated saw unit takes it further. With the saw fitted, operators can grab, hold and cut in a single operation, which is particularly useful for tree felling, dismantling and processing timber on site. When the saw is not needed, the grapple works as a straightforward grab for loading trailers, feeding chippers or moving materials around site. This dual-purpose design means fewer attachment changes during the working day.
A Size for Every Excavator Class
The SX range spans from compact units suited to smaller excavators doing garden and landscape work through to heavy-duty models designed for larger machines handling full-size timber. Matching the right MDE SX grapple to your excavator weight ensures you get the grip strength and opening width needed for the job without overloading the carrier. If you are unsure which size fits your machine, get in touch and we can help match the right grapple to your setup.
Manufactured by MDE in Northern Ireland
MDE manufactures the SX grapple range at their facility near Markethill in Northern Ireland, where the company operates across 24 countries worldwide. Every MDE grapple saw and SX grapple is built with input from customers and dealers, which is how the bolt-on saw unit came about as a practical addition to the standard grab design. That close relationship between manufacturer and end user means the attachments are developed around real working requirements rather than spec-sheet engineering.
