What a Post Peeler Does and Why It Matters
A post peeler removes bark from round timber using a rotating disc fitted with adjustable blades, producing a clean, smooth finish in a single pass. Peeling fence posts before treatment allows preservative to penetrate the wood more evenly, which extends the working life of the post once it is in the ground. For anyone producing fence posts, stakes or poles in volume, a dedicated post peeler replaces hours of hand-peeling with a process that can handle well over a hundred posts per hour.
Tractor-Mounted or Electric Drive
Rabaud post peelers are available with tractor three-point linkage mounting or three-phase electric drive, so they can be set up to suit either a field-based operation or a fixed yard. Tractor-mounted post peelers are useful where you are processing timber close to where it was felled, while an electric setup keeps things simpler in a workshop environment. Both configurations use the same peeling disc and blade arrangement, so the quality of finish is consistent regardless of how the machine is powered.
Clean Chip Discharge for Easier Site Management
One detail that makes a practical difference during long runs is how the bark waste is handled. Rabaud post peelers feature a chip discharge blower that rotates 360 degrees, so you can direct the stripped bark into a trailer, bag or collection area without stopping to clear debris from around the machine. It is a small feature that keeps the working area tidy and reduces downtime, particularly on days when you are peeling large batches of fence posts back to back.
