Tracked and Self-Propelled
Rabaud self-propelled wood chippers are standalone machines that move under their own power, removing the need for a tractor or separate towing vehicle. With tracked variants available for working on soft or uneven ground, these self-propelled chippers are designed to go where the timber is rather than relying on material being brought to them.

Take the Chipper to the Timber
The main advantage of a self-propelled wood chipper over a towed or stationary unit is mobility. Instead of hauling brash and timber to a central processing point, the chipper can be driven directly to where the material is, which saves time and reduces the amount of manual handling involved. For site clearance, woodland management and arboricultural work where timber is spread across a wide area, a self-propelled chipper significantly cuts down on the back-and-forth that slows a job down.
Tracked Chippers for Difficult Ground Conditions
Rabaud offers tracked versions of their self-propelled chippers, which use caterpillar-style tracks instead of wheels for better traction and ground pressure distribution. This makes them suited to soft, wet or sloping ground where a wheeled machine would struggle to get purchase or risk causing excessive surface damage. Tracked shredders are particularly useful in forestry and land clearance work where conditions underfoot are rarely ideal, and where getting the machine into position without a separate vehicle is a practical necessity.
Independent Operation Without a Tractor
Because a self-propelled chipper carries its own engine and drivetrain, it operates entirely independently of other machinery. There is no need to tie up a tractor to power or tow the unit, which frees that tractor up for other work on site. For smaller operations or contractors who do not want to dedicate a vehicle to chipping duties, a self-propelled wood chipper offers a self-contained solution that one operator can move, position and run without assistance.
